Bittern Pair
The artists years as
a floral designer, as well as influence from his
love of the Far-East show through in this stunningly
graceful carving
which won best in world at the Ward Foundation World
Championship Carving Competition in 1981.
This pair strikes a "freeze" pose that helps camouflage the
birds among
the wetland reeds in times of danger. This carving is now
housed in
the permanent collection of the
Ward
Museum of Wildfowl Art in Salisbury, Md.
